I know they're not supposed to be held and stuff in the first week or so, but they had been handled a lot at the place I'd got them from, and so I though it would be okay. Is it okay? They're kinda skittish, and squeal some still. They do purr though when I scratch their backs the right way ;) will they get less skittish, let me pick them up easier(they start to run away, but I stop, let them calm down, try again, and they seem to be better and easier to pick up after that), not run away as much, and stop squealing and stop screaming when I have them in my arms? They just seem so scared! Will all of this get better in the years to come with them? Has anyone had this experience? I really hope they dont feel so scared all the time soon... It breaks my heart to know that they think they're not safe and don't trust me... (I'm also a first time piggy owner, and they are 3 weeks old...this is my 3rd day with my cuties! So, any advice would be helpful! :) thanks!)

Oh gosh you can hold and snuggle them straight away :)
It's fantastic that they're letting you offer food and then taking it out of your fingers, bet you're totally chuffed x)
You're doing really well ! :)-c
Keep it up and keep chatting to them..... some will settle but others not as much. My girls are now 2 1/2 and they've just started letting me give them head rubs whilst still in their house rolleyes I have taught them to run into their cardboard box and that's where i pick them up from.

Oh goodness, thank god! I though they'd hate me forever if I started cuddling too soon! :p

You think so? Are you sure they're not just hungry little boogers? Lol, they love their celery and hay the most, I'm sure (: I introduced celery to them a couple hours ago, and they're faces were filled with joy while chomping away at them(:

Oh, I definetly am! I can't help but trying to snuggle all the time :P they're little lips are oh so adorable, and the piggy faces are so.. So... Smushable! Lol, them cutie pies have stolen my heart!

Yay! I'm glad(: thanks for the advice, and I'll be sure to follow it ;)

Hi!

I was also got my first guinea pigs ten days ago, and I picked them up on the third day! Now, instead of being timid and scared they are super friendly and relaxed. I let them out of the cage all the time, something I was planning on doing around december!

Lol! At first I had to chase my pics around the cage a bit, but definitely just handle, handle, and handle. It'll pay off!

Just a little hint..... don't introduce too many new veggies at once, unless they were brought up with them. Where they were from did they give you a list of what they ate? If not try a new veg one at a time, then if it upsets their tummies you'll soon know. Check out the food list for what they can and can't have :)
:(|) ahhh you're hooked now! x) they have you wrapped up in their little paws!

Piggieslave- thanks! I will make sure to "handle handle handle!" (:

Glynis- they did not write a list, but they said they did have carrots, cucumbers, etc. They did not have celery before, and I've introduced two new veggies in these 3 days, pepper and celery. They seem okay with both, and no upset tummies(: I'm being careful, don't worry! I'll also still be careful in the future with fruits (if I even feed them fruits, if so, once a week only if that)

I have seen the list, also, before(: thanks though for reminding me!

Oh, definetly ;) they're my little boogers, even if they keep me up till 2:30 in the morning, they have my heart!(: those little cutie patuties look like they'll be giving me some sleep tonight! Wooo(: (they're pretty quiet, thankfully ) but hey , if they were loud tonight, or any other night, I will never get mad at them or want to get rid of them! Theyre mine till the end ;) <3
