to be cleaned out! I havent had them long and they are excited about everything! Ive just cleaned them out and they went mad :<>

I think its called Popcorning, well they were both doing that everywhere....i had to tidy up after them yet again!

I use newspaper, shaving and GP safe bedding, not hay *** it makes them sneeze...

I'm interested in the fleece bedding...could someone tell me more? Is it better for them or cheaper? :)

Kat, Barney and Burdock x

shavings arent recommend for piggies due to potentially causing breathing issues amongst other things. Hay makes up a large proportion of their diet and is essential for wearing their teeth down, do they get any hay at all ?

the fleece you can buy from asdas for only 2pounds but remember you will need a few as they will need washing everyday/other day so the washing costs must be a factor. Fleece is softer on there feet and also wicks away the moitsure better so they arent laying in wee ! normally you would put a layer of newspaper or towels under it. I dont think its necssarily a cheaper option as such but some people prefer it for the piggies

I'm fairly new to guinea pigs as have mainly keopt rabbits so a buddy might be a long in a moment to explain more.....

Oh yer they have a constant hay supply in a rack which they love :) I'm one of these 'traditional' people, that why i use shavings but I'm willing to try anything that will make my piggies happy!

I guess its possible to use the fleece bedding in a hutch? As you could cut it to size? I'm thinking i might give it a go :) x

I personally use aubiose which is very much the same as shavings. it comes in a massive vacumed packed bag which cost 9pounds and should last me a very long time !

I like fleece because unlike a loose bedding they can't kick big piles of it out of the cage when they decide to have their funny 5 minutes where they race around madly.

I would say that to keep it all clean and tidy looking, it's probably a bit more work but I don't mind that. I use puppy pads under the fleece as I HATE washing, and I'm not keen on stuffing bedding that might have hay bits on it in the washing machine.

Hi there banana,

I used to feel as you before I had the bright idea of putting my profleece into a single duvet and then knotting the end to make sure that no hay escaped into the machine....It works a treat!

I would highly recommend profleece. It is just as good as vet bed, is highly absorbant and comes in a variety of shapes and colours. It can also be cut to which shape your hutch/cage is!
