As you know it has only been a couple of days since phoenix arrived. Been giving him time to settle in, but every time i go to pick him up (for eg getting him in and out of run) he squeeks really loud as if in pain.. but doesnt do it any other time.. so presume he isnt?
None of my other 5 have ever done this, and bonding with stevie seems to be going really well..
I have looked him over and cant see a reason for this.. do you think its normal? kinda like nervousness? (is that even a word? lol)
thanks x

One of my girls did this when i first got her. Would scream blue murder everytime i lifted her out of the cage, but once she was on my lap she was fine.

I always talk to them as i approach the cage, and a few months on she now just sits waitin to be picked up :) x

Haggis still wheeks his indignation at me but i take no notice; the boy is getting squodged just like the rest of them, like it or not :(|):(|)

My Mischief was carrying on as if she was being martyred on my lap for several weeks at first. Somebody must have either frightened Phoenix, or hurt him really badly, and he panics - some guinea pigs can be real drama queens! It takes patience and persistence to get him over it, but eventually, he'll get over it.

In the meantime, it might help if you could move him around without having to handle him much. Even Nerys and Nia have come on really quickly, because I have given them time to adjust and build up trust.

This is my "shuttle" aka upturned pigloo, which has worked brilliantly with all my problem piggies:

I tried to get him in pigloo earlier when i picked him up but he ran out each time i tried to lift it. (love the idea btw)
He seems very nervous, and we have noticed at all times, he is vocal! lol
Being so small he is hard to catch. Will have to persevere as he settles when on my knee, and stevie cries for him which is sweet, even if he does hound him when they are together :(|)
Me n del had them all out last night in pairs, and i am the only one who so far had held phoenix.. he gave me a funny look when i passed him to del as if "mammy who is this?" was very cute.
Today he went down my top! tried him in a fleece blanket and he settled lovely even did a wee on me :)) again!
Was concerned originally he may have been hurt, but guess he is just needing some time to adjust xx
