hi, i recently got two new female guinea pigs as my old ones past away last year which were 2 males.

I would bring them into the house and nurse them and let them run around our kitchen floor, but these two young girls are alot different than my old ones. when they run around they go mad squeeking and jumping up in the air kicking their back feet up. its quite funny and entertaining to watch and they seem to be enjoying themselves.

I was wondering if anyone elses piggies have done the same? as i have never came aross this behaviour with my old males. could it be their gender? or maybe just these ones are alot more freindly. As i got my old ones from the unwanted pets they were fully grown and quite shy.

This means they are very happy. They are popcorning. Piggies do this to show happiness. It is more common with younger piggies so maybe that is the reason your boys did not do it. You have some happy girls there. :)

I got two male pigs and they always do this, especially when I put out fresh hay, bring them veggies or a treat, when they hear me coming to their cage, when I bring them to another room to play and explore or when they want to play in their cage themselves.
One mine was going so crazy one day in the room and he pop corned straight into a wall lol!

They are popcorning! The younger ones do it more often. They are really happy! My boys will chase each other around the cage popcorning!
