my new guinea pig won't stop chirping !

i recently just got a new guinea pig from a pet store, she's a female and was born a few months ago. she was doing really good adjusting to my house, and eat/drinking well, but today she started chirping and won't stop! it's not a loud sound, it's just very quiet and consistent chirping. should I be concerned?

Chirping is a bit of a rare sound and no one knows for sure what it means. Personally, I think that they do this when they sense danger around. Being a lone piggy in a new home, she may feel a little on edge.

If she feels scared and making this sound out of fear consistently, I would consider bonding her with another guinea pig. Since piggies are herd animals, being in a pair/group helps to make them feel safe.

Nobody really knows why they chirp but she will definitely need a friend as piggies, especially babies, should never be kept alone

My old Guinea Pigs never chirped in the 5 years I had them but my new Guinea Pigs are repeat chippers. Some piggies chirp more than others and it's just part of the mystery of chirping I think it's when they sense change. A change in the weather, a change in housing (my piggies hadn't done it for ages until we moved house), a change in routine (my boys have been known to chirp in school holidays when I'm about more) even the presence of a Christmas tree in our house qued some chirping. I'm not sure it's when they're scared just a little on edge.

Yes Chirping (ie making a sound exactly like a bird.
Not their normal excited wheeking) is a normal
Sound it’s rather rare and not a sound most owners will ever hear

Some pigs never chirp and some are regular chirpers! One of my present pigs, Misa, chirped all the time as a baby but I haven't heard her do it for a few months (she just turned one.) It's kind of a mystery in that no one really knows what it means so enjoy having heard one of the rarer guinea pig noises!
