Junior Guinea Pig
Hello Everyone,
My oldest sow passed away in January and took a month until I was ready to adopt again, but I couldn't find any guinea pig that looked like my former Peanut. I wanted to same coloring and hair length but it was hard to find since she was a mix.
For 5 months, I looked a guinea pig rescue, county shelters, petfinder and craigslist but had no luck. Until a week ago I saw a guinea pig on petfinder.com that peaked my interest but didn't think twice about it. This morning I checked again and she was still listed. I called the county shelter and asked if she was still up for adoption, the lady on the line said "yes" but another person called an hour before expressing an interest to adopt. I asked her if that meant she was reserved and she replied "first come first serve". I dropped everything and drove 40 minutes away to the shelter.
I entered and said I want to adopt a guinea pig, she took me over to "Phoenix" and notice another piggie with her. I inquired about the other one and she told me the history. They were both seized by animal control due to poor living conditions. I didn't want to break up a pair especially if they have history together so I told the lady I want to adopt both.
She informed that the second piggie had a veterinary hold and can't be adopted so I told her to get the vet and clear the piggie. All the vets in the shelter were having a meeting and told me I can bring one home and wait for the second to be cleared. So I told her that I will wait until the meeting is over and get the vet to clear her....that being said, I waited an hour and half.
