I asked her to go pick up lettuce since I'm sick and she fed them iceberg lettuce. I looked into foods to eat and not eat before getting them and remember there was a "absolutely no iceberg lettuce" and they will have diarrhea. What should I do?

PS she didn't look into what guinea pigs can or can't eat so it's partially my fault for not specifically saying romaine, but I thought at this poont she would know since thats the type I always buy

What I would do here, is skip a veg meal for them( if you see soft pos coming) and maybe give a few more pellets instead. Get the fiber going through them and less watery veg. Should be fine, its just iceberg has no nutritional value, and is watery, so can cause runny poo. I wouldn't worry too much. But do bin the iceberg or eat it yourself 👍

I would remove any remaining lettuce, feed them only hay & a few pellets for 2 or 3 days, no veg, make sure they have access to plenty of water especially with the dry diet.
Keep an eye out for bloat signs too(hollow sounding stomach when tapped, rumbly gassy stomach), if they've gorged on iceberg they might upset the digestive system.
Make sure they eat loads of hay to keep things ticking over.
Be ready with a vibrating mat or electric toothbrush to help massage gas bubbles & break them up.

Iceberg lettuce I believe is the junk food version of lettuce for piggies, little nutritional value & high in water content.

Get them vet checked ASAP if you notice any changes in their input, output & behaviour

Hope they'll be OK & you feel better soon xx

Thanks you guys, I'm glad it's not exactly life threatening, I'll go double check on them again

I agree. Just withhold fresh veggies for a day, feed loads of veggies and keep an eye on them. They will probably be fine.

So update, my mom decided to burn sage and I told her to do it upstairs only away from me and the guinea pigs, she decided to ignore me and make the bottom level stink of it. If you don't know how sage smells it's like what churches use but is very strong or also like a bon fire burning smoke badly that makes you cough. It makes me want to puke sometimes. For now I have the window open but will it affect the guinea pigs? It can make my eyes water, wonder if it'll do the same for them

Hopefully it shouldn’t do. They do have a god sense of smell and their airways are narrow. But fingers crossed the open window will help.
