Well my big Bigbum...

I just wanted to share how proud i am of my little bigman... Ever since he went to the vets and stayed happily in her arms without running off i have been getting him out twice a week for a check over and a cuddle. The check over never goes right as he is a chubby pigy and i cannot find the lumps the vets told me about!
But lately he has been sitting on my lap and i feed him spinach to give him something to do... He sits there and chomps on his spinach whilst i stroke him with two fingers down one side of his body... He will only eat now when i stroke him and when i stop he stops chomping :)). its either because the stroking is putting him at ease and then when i stop he gets nervous or whether he is just telling me to carry on but its lovely to see him at ease...

Squeaky on the other hand is a fidget and would rather be on the go... Mum is still too scared and is not comfortable to be held for long so i let her get on with herself... she has now though started to come up with the other two for food time and will stay around whilst i do things with the food...

It just goes to show that from 3 scared pigs who wouldnt come out of their house until you left the room, would take anything from you and were just generally scared witless have now become bolshy, cuddly, and brave:)

and for anyone who is going through the same situation at the moment, it took mine 5 months to get to this stage so keep trying and you will get there...:);)

Thank you very much for this post. I have had my piggie for 2 months now and he still runs when I come to the cage. I was getting a little frustrated until I read this. So thank you again.
;)*Lots of smiles*:)

Thanks guys... I didnt really do anything apart from let them get on with it... I didnt handle them for a good while (they are mature piggies, i wouldnt do that with young pigs) and just gathered when the time was right and i knew it wouldnt freak them out...

Its made me realise that nothing is right straight away and not to give up, which i was going to do quite a few times in the beginning...

So Rupertsmom just keep on! (and maybe an outgoing piggy friend might be an idea for him? I know it helped my Scarey...):)

It takes some piggies longer than others to be "brave" and some always remain timid to a certain extent.

Well done you, for all your patience. It was worth it in the end! :)

Yes I am getting another male sometime this week, so my little Rupert will have company soon.
Thanks :)
