It is always hard to bear the grieving of your guinea pigs in the wake of a losses, or in Esme's case, a couple of losses in rather quick succession. Please be strong and concentrate on that things will get better for her again.

Poor girl she does look resigned to the fact that her friend is never coming back. If only we could tell them what had happened and that we still love them very much.

Harry was sad after losing both wives within a month, but a few months later he is having a ball with his new friends. Esme will find new love too in her new home, I'm sure of it x

Merab was very miserable and subdued when she was left alone.
The arrival of Keziah and Jemimah gave her a new lease of life.
We feel so helpless when our piggies are grieving and we can’t explain to them what has happened.

I’ve just had Esme out for a cuddle and she completely missed the lap pad and wee’d all down my leg. I’m going to miss accidents like that She’s off to the vets tomorrow to have her nails cut ready to go to her new home. The appointment was originally booked for her and Elizabeth so it’s going to be awful as the last time I was there was on Christmas Eve with Elizabeth x

It was very bittersweet taking Esme to the vets on Tuesday as it was the first time going there since Elizabeth went to the rainbow bridge and I had become a regular and I won’t be going back again until my cats have their yearly vaccinations and health checks, I was going every 6-8 weeks not including the times I had poorly piggies but she’s had her nails cut and is all ready to go to her new home in just over a weeks time. I'm feeling like the worst human being ever but she really is lonely by herself In the meantime, we’re having lots of cuddles x

You're not the worst human being ever. You would be if you kept Esme all by herself though it's clear that she misses a piggy's company so badly.
Saying goidbye must be so hard but it's great that she will be living in a new piggy group.

I can only imagine how hard it is for you to rehome Esme but you know deep down that it is absolutely the right thing for her to be other piggies. You are a wonderful caring person and it is an act of love to put Esme's well being before your own.

Thank you. It’s feels so much worse with Esme as I’ve never rehomed a piggy before I’m also grieving the loss of piggy ownership and all my passed piggies and it’s horrible x

Remember grief is love with nowhere to go. You will miss your piggies, miss looking after them, dinner time, breakfast time, medication time, cuddle time.... that's only because you have been such a brilliant Slave to all of them that have been lucky enough to be able to call your their Slave.
