Well, I can't fault the company for quick delivery. I ordered at the weekend, a 6-foot by 2-foot hutch with matching run and it arrived today. Courier was surprised when we said it was for guinea pigs, he thought it was for chickens!

On unwrapping, we were upset to see an enormous pressure crack/split on the underside of the roof. Happy Hutch are sending out a replacement roof on Friday, in the meantime we can still sit this one on top of the hutch to stop any rain getting in.

There were a few splinters in the wood and some bloody fingerprints on the back panel. :o I wiped those off as best I could but the blood had soaked into the wood.

Here is the hutch assembled:

With the run attached, we've added a hook to the lid so I can secure it in place when open with a chain we've hung :

I think it looks fantastic. We saw some Rabbit Hutch branded hutches in a local pet shop the other day, and I will say the finish of the Happy Hutch isn't quite as nice. But it is a sturdy piece of kit made of good quality wood and at less than £150 for the whole lot, a bloody good bargain!

Our piggies will be arriving in just over two weeks, so now I need to get busy buying accessories and bedding etc. :(|)

That's a fab home :))

IF you're worried about splinters I can recommend painting the hutch as the paint will cover the sharp wood pieces - plus it looks pretty :redxx>>>

Thank you all, looking forward to making it all pretty for when the boys arrive. :D

Catherine, I thought it might be nice painted before I put it together, but it actually looks really nice as it is. The splinters aren't noticeable where they are luckily and they're not in a position to injure the piggies.

I think I must have about 8 Happy Hutches here now and they are fab, nice and solid and at about 4 years old mine still look as good as new (piggies and buns have added a little of their own "art work" to some of he wood inside). Re the splinters can you rub them down with a little sand paper if they are sharp?

You have some very lucky piggies, looks a great set up.
