Hiya, new here. Have experience with Guinea so know about GI and to check there tummy’s, due to location issues my Guineas now live with my partner who came to see me for tea tonight. He left at 5:30 after checking the Guinea sand got home about 9:30 to find they have attacked a black bin bag and no sign of the parts they chewed of it suggesting they have eaten it. He feels terrible I was very angry at the time but accept accidents happen. They are still eating and got very excited about getting some kale pellets and a clean to check for poos in the morning ahead of the cleaning schedule so popcorning everywhere. All normal behaviours. I will post a pic of the bin bag. Surely if it would effect them then they would have started to be effected now considering there always earning?

Tummy’s are soft poos are normal and they are exhibiting normal behaviours eating and drinking.

PLEASE HELP

Keep an eye on them over the next couple of days - signs of lethargy, reduced/lack of appetite, generally seeming unwell and see a vet if these things occur - but more often in these cases the incident does not cause any issues.

Most of us have been there with this kind of thing at some point or another, no matter how careful we are. Mine have pulled a bag through a grid within seconds. It fell on the floor and they had it before I could get there. Another successfully destroyed the rubber strip on my dustpan!

Yes most definitely will thank you for the quick reply. With Christmas coming up they’ve chosen the best time to be like this. Won’t be in santas naughty list for long. This is the photo I have been sent the pink line is for me to depict how much they truly ate 🤣

Definitely keep an eye over the next few days that they are eating, behaving, and pooping normally, but in all likelihood they will pass it through okay. Once one of my kids left the hay bag too close to the cage bars and a couple of my girls managed to eat an alarming degree of plastic bag, but they were okay with no ill effects. Hope this helps a bit!

My Stripe just ate the handle of a plastic bag 48 hours ago. He's still eating, pooping and zooming but after 12 hours he had some funny poops and I've just been observing him.
