I was wondering I'm new to the chat I'm new to the guinea pig world I just got one last night actually for they're all girls I was talking to the girl that's owned guinea pigs for a long time she did rescuing and she says not to use fleece blanket mainly because the p they step on for a while can cause irritation to their feet and can cause infection after a while but they're standing on their own pee ?and she recommended woodshedding for something like that I'm not sure the right specific word for it but is this true.

Its the opposite way round, you need to prep fleece before using it. I cant remember how. But if you have the correct type of fleece and prep it first, it should soak pee through and stay dry on top. You should check out fleece liners online.

Woodshaving can cause repiratory issues in guinea pig, because of the constant dust they sniff through. Its not wrong to use this, but it can happen. Some pigs are ok some are not. ( in my experience)

And lastely i must mention. You need another guinea pig, they shouldnt be kept single. Welcome to the forum 👍

So how many fleece blankets do you need to put all together and can I use the doggie pee pads on the bottom too so how many should I use.

Hi and welcome

The trick is to wash any fleece without surface sealing softener, and it will let seep any fluid through into an absorbent underlay while still staying dry. It is a very popular bedding for our members' indoors piggies, but not ideal for outdoors.

You may hopefully find both our bedding overview (there is a much wider choice available now than fleece or wood chippings)
and our fleece guide helpful and informative:

A Detailed Guide For Fleece Bedding

Both these guides are part of our very helpful New Owners information collection, which addresses specifically all the areas we get the most questions and concerns from new owners in a practical and precise way to enable as smooth and good a start as possible.
