hi I'm new to the guinea pig forum in fact this is my first thread I need some help with my guinea pigs who are turning 1 on September the 1st 2018 so there still quite young. one of my guinea pigs (brownie) can go up and down the ramp in there 2 story hutch. but my other one (nugget) can go up but he gets himself stuck and cant get down stairs wich is where there food and water is and I want to encourage him to go down the ramp bye putting vedge on there ramp but the other one brownie gets there first and eats before nugget knows that the vedge is there. do u have any ideas on how to encourage nugget to go down stairs instead of the vedge idea. any help please

Welcome to the forum :)

Does the ramp have sides or can you add some? Maybe some sort of tunnel over it so it's more enclosed. A lot of piggies don't like using open ramps. They prefer some cover.

Also is there enough grip on the ramp? Maybe add some bits of carpet so your piggies have something to grip on. This might help the less confident one :)

Lastly make sure the ramp isn't too steep. You could lift the bottom of the ramp onto a hide of some sort to make the angle less steep. Hope that makes sense!

Hi, welcome to the forum.
I used a fleece tunnel on my ramp and just left them too it. Eventually they worked it out and will run up and down. However when I take the fleece tunnel away to wash it, they don’t use the ramp until it’s back:doh:

I have a ramp in my two tier indoor cage. I fixed carpet to the ramp and it has a fleece ramp tunnel on it. I’ve also rested the bottom of the ramp on to a block of wood to make it less steep. My pigs love to do zoomies up and down it :)
