My guinea pig who was given to me as a female by a petstore turned out to be a boy (i think) after a month of having him, i searched how to sex a piggy and i saw his penis i guess. My piggy not later after that, had his balls a bit more swollen that usual. I brushed it off because it didnt seem to hurt him and i just didnt know if thats how its supposed to look like. A couple of weeks later i just checked my piggy’s privates and his penis was open? It was a like a circle and i could see a pink thing when i pressed on the sides. He had some of his own hair stuck in the middle and i took it out. His penis seems very loose but not erect. Its like kinda saggy? And it moved to the side and i got so scared. I cant take him to a vet because i dont have my license and my parents are old and always too tired to take me. What is wrong with my piggy? (He had an infection before and i did take him to the vet and they gave me some antibiotics to give him for five days but that was a long time ago) (this is also my first guinea pig)

Welcome to the forum

It sounds possible that it was just his penis protruding but sight unseen we cannot know.
You can post a picture and we may be able to help but we cannot diagnose any medical conditions.

Does he have a companion? Do note that guinea pigs should not be kept alone (they get lonely if they don’t have another guinea pig living with them).
Make sure that his companion is also male

The guides below explain more

The picture is blurry because its a screenshot from a video. It looks much better here than when i first noticed it. He doesnt currently have a companion, but i will be getting one in christmas. I spend all my time with him and let him out all the time, he seems very happy and is always purring and popcorning.

Yes I’m afraid the picture isn’t clear enough for us to make any determination.

I’m glad you’re getting him a friend. Unfortunately no amount of human interaction is enough as there is no mutual communication.

When you get him a friend:
- ensure you sex the new piggy correctly to ensure it is definitely male
- make sure the cage is big enough. Two boys need 180x60cm of cage space. Anything smaller isn’t enough and can lead to space related fall outs.
- ensure you provide multiple resources in the cage, two water bottle; two hay piles; at least two hides. Ensure both have hides have multiple exits. Any hide with a single exit can cause fights inside the hide if one piggy feels trapped by the other.

Very importantly, ensure you carry out the introduction properly on completely neutral territory. You must not and cannot just add a new piggy directly into his cage as he will see it as a territory invasion and may cause fights and the bonding to fail.
The guides below explain everything to do with the bonding process and the importance of ensuring the two pigs are compatible to enable them to bond

Thank you so much for letting me know. Would a 6 by 3 feet cage be enough for the two? And is a plastic hidey fine? I couldnt find any that were wooden/fleece that were big enough for my piggy, let alone two.

yes that size would be fine for two boars (males). You can use a cardboard box for a hidey just cut out two exits with some scissors. You can chuck them away and replace once they get smelly too. Make sure whatever hides you use has two exits once you get another boar so neither piggie gets trapped, as this can cause a potential for fights to break out

Yes it’s a good size cage

A plastic hide is only ok if it has two doors. Most plastic hides available on this country only have one door so are not recommended.
With that said, plastic hides can become hot inside, so in hot countries wouldn’t necessarily be recommended for use.
As bill&ted has advised, cutting holes in cardboard boxes is a well recommended thing to do.

You need several hides in the cage - be aware that guinea pigs are not necessarily going to want to be in the same hide at the same time. Most piggies like their own space and their own hide so won’t cuddle up with their cagemate.
