my guinea pig won’t stop eating fabric

My guinea pig, Mable, is chronically stupid. Like, genuinely the dumbest pig I’ve ever encountered.

A main thing she does is desperately try and pull up carpet/her fleece/ANYTHING fabric and try to eat it. She won’t stop. She’s done this since she was a baby and I don’t know why and I’m worried she’ll get sick because I can’t stop her 24/7

to clarify, she has unlimited access to hay and the way she eats it is by grabbing a random piece and pulling at it. she’s way more likely to pull at pieces sticking out like in her beds and the carpet but I’ve also seen her go at the fleece. she stops pretty quickly once I redirect her because she lowkey forgets about it
