Hey there, I just adopted my 3rd piggy a few days ago. At the shelter, the lady said that she is bottle trained, but now that I have her home, I don't think she knows where the bottles are. I have 2 water bottles in their cage, and I keep moving them hoping she finds them and gets water. She still hasn't found them and It worries me. I did try to hold the bottle and do it by hand but she refused to drink out of it. What can I do to make sure she has enough water?

The amount a piggy drinks varies widely - All About Drinking And Bottles
I would suggest you don’t keep moving them around - she will learn where they are as she settles in so keep them in the same place. I would also suggest you get more bottles - we always advise that you have as many of each item as you have piggies - so three piggies needing three bottles, three bowls, at least three hides etc

I am sure she will find them soon.. probably at night time.. my piggies varied so much with drinking- one would literally glug glug for ages back and forth.. another never at all! Try a bowl too and you could always wet their veggies before they eat them x

I babysat a guinea pig that got all his fluid from veggies before. It was a bit scary given he wasn’t my piggy and I was just babysitting him for my neighbor who took a vacation for a month. His name was Marshmallow, and he never drank much water. I ended up giving him excess romaine lettuce 🥬 just to make sure he got enough fluid.

I did freak out while babysitting Marshmallow because both my piggies, Finn and Bear drink a lot of water.

They all vary. She will find the bottle soon enough if she wants it. My two boars didn’t drink at all out of a bottle when I got them. Then I had to take them off veggies for a few days and they miraculously found the water. A piggy won’t not drink if they are thirsty.
