My baby guinea (approx 5 weeks old) we noticed today she has 3 perfectly normal claws on her hind foot and then a 4th one which is dangling on by a thread! They are only meant to have 3 at the rear so i'm guessing this is some sort of defect.. what should I do with it?!

Any advice appreciated, thanks x :)

You will need to take her to a vet to have this removed.,otherwise it will tear and could bleed profusely. The vet will be able to remove the tag without aneasthetic and it will only take a second.I do not recommend you try to cut it off yourself.

Ah ok, thanks for that advice.. I will ring and book him in at the vets in the morning then.. Don't you think its quite unusual though?

xx

No,polydactyly to give the extra digit the correct name,is fairly common.

I had a foster pig like this called Boomer, his didn't trouble him but his new owner Julie had it whipped off.

Agree with Mary this is one that needs removing. :)
