I had to share this, as thanks to a recommendation of by Amanda, I have tried "dust free hay" for the first time and am very impressed with the quality and quantity.

I have been trying for months to find a decent hay at a good price but failed miserably. Dust free hay is a success.

Three of my girls have been on fleece for the last three months and I decided to try them on hay today instead (due to the cheapness and ease of cleaning) as with eight girlie's I am a bit sick of washing all of the fleece and the multitude of cosy's.

It was a big hit! They are running round like complete nutters. I will still use their cosy's in their cage for that extra softness. But I am very pleased and would highly recommend it.

Aw - it's fab to see them springing about on new hay isn't it?! Is that the dust free hay co? I used them and my first delivery had really sharp thorns in the meadow hay:( It hadn't bothered the piggies, but i got a really nasty nip (I am always a bit hesitant to use the 'p' word) from it8...

I am a bit put off using them again, but maybe if I read lots more good reports I will give them another whirl

Perhaps i might give it a try - just bought a small bale of farm hay for £4 but it has stunk the house out ! - it 'aint a bargain if its no good - where did you get it from & how much?

Mine are all currently bedded on huggies dry nights pads and hay - I feel like I've finally found something that works well for me!

I tend to find that after the first 24 hours, they no longer eat the hay on the floor, after it's been walked on and slept on and weed on, so I tend to use really cheap hay for sleeping on (like £4.99 for a huge bag in The Range) and then give them the nicer stuff to eat :))

My three girls are on the soft hay too. The other five have it in their hay racks and love it.

How often do you have to clean out when using dry nights and hay?

And would drynites work under newspaper? (with hay on top)

Sorry to just jump in with questions, just mine are ok with newspaper and hay I just wonder if they could be better.

I do mine once a week, no smells or anything.

I wouldn't use them under newspaper just because you won't really be gaining anything. The newspaper would still be wet as it will retain the water. I use them instead of newspaper :)
