Today I went to palace piggie to get my sam a friend. When I adopted sam it was thought he may be neutered but wasn't confirmed. So we went with the intention of adopting a baby boy.

We chose a little 6 week boy called magnus who was beautiful. Sam sniffed him for about 5 minutes then ignored him. Little baby magnus desperately wanted his attention but sam didn't give him any. We tried another little one but same thing.

Sam was checked over by the rescue and it was confirmed he was neutered so we went on to pair him with two lovely girlie's. The idea is that as sam is so laid back the girls will have eachother; however he'll keep them in check. So we unexpectedly came home with a trio!

Meet Sams two ladies Nina (black with white crest) and Bessie (black and white baby) . Sam is the heffalump.

We've had a couple scares already! It's been a long time since we had young pigs. They were on the top level of our cage however we've had to swap them over with th girls on the bottom level to be safer. Nina in particular has not had a great start in life and is terrified so she bolts. I'm looking forward to slowly gaining her trust and seeing her chill out..

I love that little peeking face in the first photo <3

You can see how scared the poor black one is. She'll learn in no time from your confident boar. :)

We put the pigs to bed early last night as I wanted them to chill out overnight. This morning nina is still in the same spot as last night :( I hope she's moved about a little. Hopefully with a constant routine she'll adjust ok.

They look so cute together hope they relax soon.

They are all lovely:love:. Little Nina looks like our foster boy Bumble who is also black with a tiara - I hope the new little girls settle for you!

@Wiebke the 6 month girl nina is not spending any time with the other two. She is hiding or quickly coming out but nipping the others if they come close to her. Do you think this is going to last or she won't accept them?

Little Bessie and sam are doing well eating and sleeping together. She can stand up for herself when sam gets too much too.

Give her more time, but accept it if she will never be as close, as long as it doesn't descend into bullying the outsider. You often end up with two piggies being closer in a trio.

I tend to agree with Wiebke.
We have a trio - the same combination as you.
Our boar (Eddie) and one of the girls (Lucy) are quite close and they often sleep together.
Ruby is feisty, and took longer to settle, and initially I worried about her a lot, but now they all seem fine.
In all honesty, whilst their is no bullying, and the dominance issue was very quickly sorted (Lucy is the boss), Ruby is definitely on her own more than the other two.
But I have also seen all of them curled up together, and they do all interact, but Ruby seems to favour a bit more personal space.

The trio have settled a little. Nina actually made an effort to come and sit with Sam last night to eat hay. HR was v close to her and she didn't nip. She only butted him when he touched noses. Baby Bessie is getting more confident as the days go on, I don't think it'll be long before she's at the bars for food. I've been spending lots of time just sat in front of their cage talking to them, then when I hold them ive been stroking around their eyes and ears as that's meant to be as if I'm friendly/accepting them isn't it?

Awwww  Don't they look great together! Sounds like it is really going well, please keep us updated

Aw I have so much love for my new piggies. They're getting a tiny bit more confident day by day. I was putting hay in everyone's cage earlier and Nina took me by surprise as she was sat at the front of the cage, previously with any noise she'd be cowering at the back then this evening instead of plonking their veg in u attempted to get them to take it from hand. I gave sam something to munch on which git the other's attention. Bessie took several pieces of veg from me (tentatively and only if stood next to sam but still good!). Nina was interested but then realised she could pinch others veg which was much less scary. We'll get there though! The cutest thing happened last night, I hand fed Bessie a treat and as I did she moved her paw on top of my finger, I nearly burst from happiness. IMG-20160530-WA0013.webp
