On Tuesday I had to help Po has join his dad, Jupiter, and mum, Eileithya-Eris, over the rainbow bridge after deteriorating over the course of 24hrs. He enjoyed life up until the very end and enjoyed some grass and veggies before his trip. Mr Po, my chief wheeker, was a happy and sweet little soul from the moment he was born. Coming into the world at 11:58pm on December 3rd 2020 weighing a whopping 106g, he never stopped singing and dancing.

At 18 days old he was separated from his mum and sister and went to live with dad, Jupiter. Jupiter took little Po under his wing and they were beat pals from day 1. You'd never see them far from one another.

This was a magical forever bond. They were inseparable.

Together they lived a good piggy life, their favourite thing was this small animal bed. They loved it.

Another of Apollo's favourite pass times was laying on top of a wooden bendy bridge, looking over his kingdom. He was always on it waiting for morning veggies, even the day before he passed and god forbid I forget to give me grass...

When Basil was pre and post op, they were great neighbours. Po was a little put a back to begin as he was so used to being the baby of the group I think. He did warm up to him though and taught Basil naughty things like chewing correctly and rattling C&C grids. You knew he and dad Jupiter were up to no good when their snoots were poking through the bars.

Apollo enjoyed both indoor and outdoor living. You'd often find him lay in a sunny spot and even during the week leading up for his final day he'd fall asleep on me in a snuggle sack in the sun.

After Jupiter's sudden departure Po was quiet. But after a week or so he got back to his old self with the help of his new neighbours Blossom and hus-boar Cyril. They'd often groom each other through the bars and 'share' hay and a somewhat communal sleeping area. I later moved their usual sleeping hides into this area to help keep them warm through the winter, which they seemed to appreciate.

It's been a difficult few days, I feel emotionally drained. The rest of the pigs are in mourning. I've taken Po's hutch extension off and added the door back onto the bottom portion of the double hutch. I know sometime in the near future I'm likely to add this back on as all current piggies are seniors. It still doesn't feel real. I still expect him to be there when I open the shed up, it doesn't help that in my dreams he's still alive.

Mr Po touched the hearts of many who met him. His sweet gentle nature was something I was always fascinated by given that his sister is the complete opposite.

Dance free in the rainbow meadows Po, you deserve it.

I’m so sorry Mr Po has left for the bridge. Be comforted that Jupiter was waiting for him ❤️

What a moving tribute, your handsome chap was obviously an exceptional character.
Reunite with your dad Jupiter over the bridge gorgeous Po 💔🌈

What a heart-felt tribute to your wonderful baby boy. You always have an extra special connection when you have them since they were born. Po did obviously have the gift to love deeply and to enjoy a very happy piggy life right up to the end even after he lost his dad. I am sure that he will be delighted to be reunited with him.

Please give yourself time to grieve. Every bond is unique, and some are closer than others - Po clearly falls into that category. It won't be easy to get used to no longer having him around. That's why it never hurts any less when a journey comes to its end. :(

Sleep peacefully in the great comfy bed over the bridge with your friends lovely Po 🌈
