image.webp Hello all

I have had to change the girls' cage around, after Smudge peed on the platform, and got urine all over the top ridge and the side of the cage base (the platform rested on the same lip of the base as the bars did).

Here is a pic of the current set up. The girls are a bit stressed, but I had visions of Smudge wriggling her bum against the bars and spraying wee all over the plaster boards on the wall (we are still in the process of doing the house up). The girls come out every day in the play pen for an hour or two, but I am waiting for the fabric one to come from Zooplus.

Do you think the cage is suitable? There is an edible basket filled with hay next to the bendy logs on the left (Poppy loves that basket) and the hay in the right hand corner is not in a tray but free standing. Each bendy log has an edible grassy mat with hay inside. The two coloured things next to the feed bowl are chews - they love whimzees!

I can take the hanging there no down, but both girls will nibble on it every so often. I think there is something missing...but I cannot put my finger on what it is. There is not much room left to zoom around in...any suggestions for a better set up?

I think there's loads of different things to interest them which is great. If you want to give them more space to run around you could alternate some of the things maybe rather than having them all in at once. The changeovers would be added boredom breakers for them.

You could also just have one of the bendy sticks in instead of two - you've still got the wicker tunnel which gives them both domewhere separate to hide if they feel like being apart and out of view.

How big is the cage, do you know? Most obvious thing to give more space is always get a bigger cage......:D

It's a Skyline Maxi 120 cage. I currently don't have the room for a bigger cage, but the girls do have a playpen which they go in to every evening for several hours. I have two bendy logs as I think the girls will sleep in one each. I don't think that they sleep together.

Once the room is completed, I will be looking at C&C set ups, but there is no chance yet :(

Our bungalow, and it's only small, is going to take years to complete. We had to go back to bare brick and replace everything!

I like that cage. It's quite a popular one - good value. I'm sure the girls would sleep in the wicker tunnel if there was only one lot of bendy sticks in but dont get me wrong, I'm not trying to strongly suggest you should take one set of sticks out - just a suggestion to give zooming space and I won't think badly of you if you don't take one out. You know more than I do what your piggies like as you watch them every day.

good luck with the house - you have my sympathy. Our last house needed rewiring and the people who lived there before us had wallpapered every room so it all had to come off after the rewiring. When we took it off all the plaster came off. That was the point st which our neighbour mentioned that all the houses in the street had defective plaster when they'd been built - would've been more useful info before we took it all off! So the. We had to replaster the entire house.

Next the boiler died and was so old it couldn't be replaced like for like so we went for a new combi boiler. That meant we had to redo the whole kitchen and, because the hot water tank was no longer needed and had been out in the bathroom, we decided we were in it so much already we might as well do the bathroom too.

I'm back in work tomorrow after a week's hectic leave, so I won't be watching the girls as often as I have been!

one of the bendy logs goes in the pen when they are in it. I'm going to keep an eye on them (the OH can tomorrow for me) to see if both are being used, and if not one can go in to the pen on a more permanent basis.

Only the bathroom is completed. Most of the kitchen is. IV got either plasterboard or bare bricks on the walls. The floor is concrete. Still, it's being done bit by bit.
