My C And C Cage So Far!

Here's an update just wondering should I put fleece in the hay loft or just fill it with hay with puppy pads underneath ?
I would be quite careful putting puppy pads under hay in. They could dig past the hay and chew the pads, which can cause blockages. Even with fleece I have to peg it to the sides as they do their best to chee through. Perhaps you could use a bedding or newspaper instead? Or just use fleece as you said x

Looking really great, can't wait to see the piggles in there! Don't forget to update this thread once the furrynesses arrive!

My 2 gorgeous girls have just arrived home. 1 is a Peruvian and the other is a swiss. I have just put them both in the cage. The smaller 1 just ran and hid which I know is normal.

I am just a bit concerned about the larger girl I have placed her in the cage near the food and water and she hasn't moved an inch. She is just sat there.

Is this normal behaviour when piggies arrive at a new home ?

She isn't hiding under anything she is just sat in the middle of the cage. I'm slightly worried.

We have left the room and closed the door we are keeping the noise to a minimum and just peeking round the door every so often just to see if she has moved. It's been 20 minutes now and she still hasn't moved.

Does she seem ok otherwise? Perhaps put some cucumber in her proximity, leave for five or ten mins and come back

I always use fleece & the hay in a litter box, not sure on what hay your using. I always use meadow hay for the boxes, which they use as a Toliet & then eat the hay. Yuk. Or Timothy hay I scatter.
Your setup looks brilliant.

I think she maybe just frightened have you any large towels you can part cover the cage with, maybe give her a little security. We're the girls together when you got them, if not then they may need to get to know each other as well.
Oh 1 tip l would move the log bridge away from the side a bit, if it was mine they would climb the bridge then throw themself over the bridge to the floor.

I've covered half of the cage and they have plenty of places to hide. I will put in fresh lettuce or cucumber before I go to bed. I'm sure they will come out when it's all quiet. And will see if they have eaten anything when I check on them in the morning.

That's probably a big space for them, a palace. They are probably thinking what they can do first. Mine were straight in the food bowl. :))

My two lovely rescue sows hid most of the time for the first few days. They are fine now and spend a lot of time out and about and will take food from my hand.

I am sure yours will settle in a bit. Dont worry just chat to them and tell them how wonderful they are.

They are doing better today the both have been out. Still running away when I am near but we are making progress :)

@Mezzle2121 It's worth the frustration of waiting for them to get used to you.

My Podrick was such a coward at first, but he's great now. One of the few pigs that will let me pick them up.
