My Bubba is trying to cross the rainbow bridge. What’s normal?

I had made a previous post about my piggy being in poor condition after returning home from a funeral out of state. Today I think he is crossing the rainbow bridge. He was very vocal last night and I gave him some time to rest after having him drink lots of water and eat (he was having trouble moving due to paralysis and I was making sure he was getting the nutrients he needs.)

I checked on him and he was completely limp. His eyes are growing less and less responsive, he will not eat or drink even with a syringe. He’s still breathing, and every once in a while his legs will twitch and also his ear. He even began to make the motions as if he was running despite being paralyzed. There’s no gasping or anything and I can see his nostrils flaring as he breathes.

Is there anything I can do to help him cross? I’m very sensitive to death and I know he’s eventually going to start gasping and I’m home alone with nobody to call over and it’s just going to destroy me. Him running in place already triggered me I don’t know what to do. I don’t want him to suffer.

I'm so sorry. Yes the running is normal but can be rather distressing for you if this is the first time you are witnessing it. He is probably not aware of what is going on now.

I’m so sorry. Sending you hugs at this sad time. One of my piggies crossed the bridge by “running” movements. The vet told me he would not have been aware at that time. Hopefully it won’t be much longer and he will be at peace.

Sending peaceful wishes to you both, whisper words of love to him as he will still be able to hear your voice and this will reassure him 🙏

If he’s not aware then it makes me feel a little better. I can bear the burden I just don’t want him to

Is It normal for him to still be able to blink on occasion? His eyes are bloodshot but if my finger gets too close while petting him his eye will respond slowly

Is your little guy still here? I would have expected him to have passed by now.I'm so sorry you're going through this.I had one piggy pass this way and it was such a shock to see.

My thoughts are with you. Every natural death is different. There is no clear schedule but because it is rather physical, it can be rather upsetting; especially when it is the first time or you.
