Bazil and Truffle have lived together for over 3 years and always got on happily, never a cross word or wheek between them but since Bazil was ill with teeth problems they have fallen out. Bazil has always been the dominant one but Truffle seems to have decided he is going to be top pig now. He started off by annoying Bazil by climbing on him, headbutting him and nibbling at his ears. I have been away for a couple of days and have come back to teeth chattering from both of them and they are now living at seperate ends of the hutch. I have put in two food bowls and each has their own pile of grass and hay. It will be such a shame if they can't live together anymore as they have always been so close. They always cuddled up together in the hutch and run and it is horrible to see them living apart now. I will moniter the situation closely and just hope they can work it out. Boys eh! Who'd have 'them? I never thought I would have a problem with these two though.

Would it help if you gave them a bath together? Sometimes that helps rebonding them.

As the dominance has obviously shifted, there is only so much you can do - it can happen to both long term female and male pairs.
