my boy is stinky (he literally smells like poo) and needs a bath. How should I go about this?

As in depth as possible, what's the best way to bathe a skittish guinea pig? Malcolm's a boar and he hasn't had a bath since he's been staying with me (his previous owner did a bath once a month). He smells like poo and I wanna hold/cuddle him without having to pull my face away all the time. How should I bathe him, or should I even?

Piggies don't need regular baths as they usually keep themselves clean. If he's long haired, you could trim his fur to stop it getting dirty, and give bum baths only when really needed. It's possible that the regular baths he's had are the reason for the problem, as his natural oils could be out of balance. I would stick to bum baths, and try to make the time between them longer and longer, and if possible, use only water.

he hasn't bathed in a good year and he's short haired. What's a bum bath?

This is probably really late but you generally shouldn't bathe your guinea pig unless it's for medical reasons or they really stink as it strips their fur of their natural oils and makes their skin dry. However, if he really stinks I recommend you only clean his bottom. Thanks, Lily. x
