when I first got my two new boys they were okay for a while then a few weeks later they began to fight. Chasing and biting, then we separated them for a day and re introduced each other and they were fine. Al continued to try and mount Eric though. But this was a few months ago.

Now yesterday, they began chasing and chattering teeth at each other again, then she started biting and fighting. They've had about 5 fights now and I Eric's being the worst effected injury ways. I've tried moving the cage around so they can explore but they just start fighting again.

The cage has currently got two separate 'hidy holes', two tubes, two bowls and two water bottles.

Eric and Al are brothers from the same litter and they're about 4 months old.

What can I do to stop them fighting?:(
please help.

If they are fighting and blood has been drawn you will have to separate them. Just because there from the same litter doesn't mean they like each other.

Can you give them more room?

There is a hormone implant available for fighting boars, unfortunately I am unaware of the success rate in Gp's, but have heard it is quite good for Ferrets. It was in the first issue of the Guinea Pig magazine.

Failing that can you house them side by side?

well blood was shed last time they were fighting but they ended up being okay after being separated. But now Eric's got a cut around his eye and on his nose:/

I would separate them now, boars can do some serious damage to each other! They clearly don't want to live with each other.

I've currently got Eric sat on me and Al's in the cage. I don't know if I can separate them tonight though because we've not got much bedding left:(

If they continue fighting, you could have alot more than bedding to buy, ie a vet trip to get both pigs stitches, if they bite the eye you could also have a blind pig, with a possible eye operation.

The only sensible thing to do is spread it equally and separate them, get them some more bedding first thing.

It's not worth the risk in my opinion, Boars can do a huge amount of damage to one another!

I put this new wooden platform in their cage the other day and they've been fighting over that. I've took that out and they're okay at the moment. I can't separate them because I took the top off their other cage to make a run in the garden:/

I'll see how they go for now. I hope they're okay:(

i dont mean to be rude but its separate them or watch the behaviour continue they arent going to magicly start loving eachother and the minute there is blood shed or an injury they need separated. whats more important your guinea pigs safety or the amount of bedding they have for one night?

Having paid some hefty vets bills (over £200) after two boars fighting and the ensuing eye injury I would strongly suggest seperating them now! Quit while you are behind!
