Hi everyone

I bought 7 week old baby sophie yesterday, I left her get used to her cage yesterday and last night brought her out for some playtime and cuddles. I am a little worried though as she hasnt eaten very much a little bit of cucumber and thats it, also she is very shy and hides do you think it would be a good idea if i bought one of her sisters for her so she wouldnt be lonely? x

if she's only 7 weeks it will take her a while yet to get used to you, and she's probably still getting used to her new home.
bonding her with an older pig will help her confidence in her surroundings, although you should make sure the older one isn't too domineering as they could end up bullying her.
as for handling the best thing is time and patience, try wrapping her in a towel and giving her veggies and in time she'll come round. almost all baby pigs are shy for a while but i'm sure soon she'll settle in just fine :)

Is she the only guinea pig in your household ? If you have other females perhaps you could introduce her to one of those.

Failing that she needs a female companion as soon as you can arrange it, one of her sisters would be ideal :) Gunieas are sociable animals and a baby sow on her own is probably terrified. I'm sure that as soon as she gets a female friend she'll be much happier.

Hope you can find her a friend and we would love to see a pic of them :)

Cupkake, is she on her own or in with your other pigs (if they are female). She needs to have some company as pigs like to be around others.

hi i have two boys but she is own her own i put them together yesterday for a pic for my avatar. i have contacted the lady and I'm going to get her sister the weekend so she wont be soo lonley even though i take her out to have time with us to get to bond with us too. this is my sophie

these are my boys Rocky is the bottom one and nibbles is the one cuddling him on top i had these two from pets at home does anyone know what breed these are. They didnt tell me and i forgot to ask.

they boy with the white dip on his head is a saffron american crested, does the other one have a white dip on his head? if not, he's a saffron crested, if it is white he's another buff american crested!

your sophie is a black and white abyssinian dutch!

One of you boys who has the white crest is a Buff American Crested (I believe he is a little dark to be saffron), the other doesnt look like he has a crest, so he will be standard short haired - Buff colour.

i was between buff and saffron! just went with saffon, then thought i should've gone with buff.

i think we all agree they're a terrific trio, all stunners xxxxxxx

aww thanks I'm having sophie sister on the weekend so i will post pics and my son has already named her millie lol xx
