My Attempt At Baking

Lol, that's pretty good for a first attempt :-)

I would say too much mixture in the case cases and not cooked properly?

But still fell free to send one this way, I'll eat it :-)

Not much wrong then !

They taste OK

I can't stop laughing.!

Couldn't repeat this - even if I wanted to !

Mmm I do love a cake or two here and there. :D Those cake cases are pretty! A useful tip that I've found out through many baking sessions is try using those silicone cake holders or a muffin sized baking tray to put your cake cases in, that way they don't overflow when they rise ;)

they will taste nice I am sure. 10/10 for artistic licence :)

It's all about the taste so as long as they taste great then that's the main thing. Everything looks the same when it comes out the other end lol! I'm a messy baker and not into presentation but usually I get compliments so it's all OK lol

Nothing beats home baked cakes. I'm sure they taste delicious. My lads would be happy to come round and scoff them if we lived closer.

@PiggyOwner Much better than my effort, mine were more effective as charcoal on the wood burner! :lol!:

You should try this cake, really simple.

Got the recipe from Good food, chocolate and beetroot cake - tasted amazing!

This was my first time baking. :)
 I luuurve beetroot! I've never thought to have it in a cake though. I must try, sounds like my idea of heaven! :luv: :)

I was going to try a beetroot and chocolate recipe . I have a vegan recipe for beetroot & chocolate cupcakes . I need a bit of time to recover from today's disaster . Anyway , my guineas are currently having some floor time on the kitchen floor so can't use the oven - watching them having floor time is much more fun than cooking !

I think whoever said that your oven tray must have been at an angle was spot on! Also ovens often heat unevenly. so check them half way through and turn the tray if need be. Mind you, if they were here now, they wouldn't be around for long.....it's all about the taste; who cares what they look like!

oven too hot, top crisped then underneath swelled.
lower temp and longer time.
also cool trick i learnt from my brother who is a baker, if you want cakes to stay moist, put a mug of water in the oven (yes the whole mug) when you put the cake in.

Thank you . I must say, however - this is the funniest mistake I've ever made !

:D I haven't baked anything from scratch for many years. Gave up long ago. My scones always came out like biscuits! :td:

I'm assuming that your oven is fan assisted? I quite like the idea of cakes blowing raspberries :)) :raz::raz::raz::raz: :))
I'm shall be baking this afternoon. Wish me luck, I may be some time...
