Hello I hope someone can help me
I've had my guinea pigs for a few days now ones 7-8 weeks and the others about 6 weeks.
Today my 7-8 week old guinea pig bit me twice tonight dose that mean she will be a bitey guinea pig and what could be the reason for it?
They also keep nose butting eatch other and have a bit of a scrap but it don't look like there biteing eatch other this is while they was on me and once in the cage yesterday.

It sounds like it may be dominance, have you had a read of the sow behaviour guides?

When she bit you were you stroking her?

Thankyou I will read it now
Yeah i think I was stroking her I thought she was just licking me like she did the other day but then she just nipped me

She was also chattering her teeth

She was telling you that she doesn't like it. However, you can teach them to a certain degree with lots of praise and fuss for behaviours you want to encourage and a sound of disapproval (guinea pigs don't do "no" well) for behaviours you want to discourage. Don't shout and stay calm. I use "good girl" and "uh-oh" for good and bad. At that age, piggies are exploring their boundaries, but they are also expecting to be taught by their piggy elders what is acceptable and what not.

Your girls are showing dominance behaviour when interacting. The hierarchy sort-out can last a few weeks. Sows also show some dominance behaviours when coming into season.

It could also have been that she needed a wee if she was on your lap.

Thankyou wiebke & Helen

She did wee on me once and so did my other one as I was holding them both at the same time and they also did loads of poos. I will look out for sign's so I can tell what they want etc

Is she the one with the bald patches? :( If she is then you need to get both checked by a vet for any skin problems like fungal or mites :)

I was thinking that too @Poppy'sMum and then forgot to post it. That's why I asked if the OP was stroking her when the biting happened.

She seemed to be fine tonight and more relaxed but I think I've found the problem when I stroke her and go down towards her sweat glad I think it is? She chatters her teeth so I'm guessing she don't like beeing touched there I aslo held them one at a time so maybe that helped beacuse they was nose butting eatchother on me yesterday.

I've updated in the other thread about the bald paches.
