Well i was cuddling Max this morning and just thought I would check him as Scruffy had it when i got him really bad and he has lice! I checked Max when I did get him last Saturday but I didnt see anything then.

I used some Hay which i dont usually use (whcich from pet shop - i usually use dust free hay but had run out and my other box was at my mums so had to use this on friday) could this have given him the lice?

I havent checked scruffy this morning as i had to rush to work and his fur is so so thick its so hard to see so going to have to trim it all back to have a look.

What would you do for treatment as obviously the 6 week old cant have neem shampoo?

Help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi, Chrissie at gorgeous guineas told me that oily products can suffocate lice, I had to do this recently using melts and a milder shampoo because i have my sow on pregnancy watch so any essential oils were out of the question. It did work though
As for the hay its just bad luck and one of those things more so this time of year it seems

its a pain isnt it! rar! its mader me really angry with myself as i hate them getting this!

I dont know if you can use neem on such little piggys, this is why i am asking. As i have to treat both it would be easier to do it with the same thing, but cos of the age gap, i want to get it right for the little one.

anyone?!

if there is stuff online i would like to order before midday so i can get it as soon as possible.

i will have a search too, but i am at work so i dont really have to time to trawl through all the search options, so if some of you could help me, i would be forever your slaves! hehe :))

Email Chrissie. She can give you the best advice on what's appropriate for a young piggie.

thanks i have just done so. I am going to get some lice and easy for scruffy, but would have been so much better if could treat them with the same thing!

anyone else know bout littleluns? ive done a search but its not got really anything on young piggys!

I agree Chrissie is so helpful. Also don't be mad with yourself it's unavoidable i liken it to the kids bringing nits home from school

Thanks piggiesforever, its so hard though not to be mad at myself! :)

on the GG site its got they shut for bank holiday and need to get order in before tomorrow. Does Chrissie usually reply quite quickly.

until i get GG if she recommends stuff for the 6 week old, what can i do until then as i dont like them having it at all?

I used the coconut melt before shampooing on my sows, it's probably worth ordering the mini pig shampoo which is safe under 12 weeks and a trial size would probably be all you need

i have spoken to Chrissie and have placed my order so hopefuly should received in next couple of days.

thanks everyone for your help, what a nightmare eh! i just hate the thought of them at home with those horrible things all in their fur. my poor babies!

If its any consolation my lot were more disturbed by the bath than the lice

i think you are right! Scruffy hates baths with a passion. I find someone holding their botty and feet out of the water makes him calmer as he doesnt feel like hes in water.

It will be Max's first bath, so that should be an interesting one!

just had a thought, i have profleece which i am going to wash tonight anyhow, how often would you replace thi when trying to get rid of the lice?
