Hi,
This is my first time posting but I was just wondering if anyone has any ideas on what might be causing my male guinea pigs change in bowel habits!
He is 1.5y old and was neutered 7 weeks ago, before this his poops were normal. The neutering went well and he recovered quickly with no problems but since then he has had a problem pooping.
He seems to only be able to push the poop half way out (so it’s poking out) and as time is going on, multiple poops are getting stuck in his bottom. They are side by side, sometimes 3 formed poops are side by side and half out of his bottom and he is struggling to get them out. Other times his poop comes out horizontally.
Can anyone help with what has caused this or anything I can try or change please?

It can be that the operation has impacted on the muscles at the back (which it shouldn't). I would not worry too much; in the coming weeks the anal sac - which is massively enlarged when testicles are descending - is going to contract again, so there is less of a cavity to push poos through.

However, neutered boars pushing out several formed poos at once is not uncommon and nothing to worry about in my own experience with a succession of them, especially as they get older.
