I saw this in the cage. I am not sure what it could be, it looks like mucus but i’m worried it’s something serious. I don’t know from which piggie it came from.

On the picture it just looks like a puddle of urine?
Does it feel jelly like for you to say mucus?

You should speak to a vet if you are worried

It felt more liquid like but yeah maybe it’s urine. The yellowness of it worried me a bit.

When urine hits the air it oxidises and turns a rusty orange/brown colour.

A cloudy, milky, yellow colour is normal for fresh urine but so is clear urine also normal.

White chalky patches when urine has dried is also normal as that is the body’s way of excreting excess calcium. However if it happens a lot or if the patches are gritty rather than chalky then it can signify there is a problem with the calcium balance in the diet.

Hi

This looks like a big puddle of urine to me that is not being absorbed by the underlay where it is sitting, so it is very obvious.

The milkiness if from naturally excreted calcium and the yellow colour depends on a) the concentration of the urine and b) the normal oxidation process when in contair with air; pee will turn more orange and then rusty the longer it is exposed and during the drying process.
