Mr Johnson’s Advance food

Hi,

Just wondering whether any forum users have used this food and can tell me whether it’s any good. I have my boys on the science select grain free in an attempt to help with their urinary issues. Now I plan on keeping them on this as so far it’s been pretty good. However, with Steve’s bloating I have heard that glucosamine in the diet can help prevent further episodes. This pellet claims to have this within it and also to help with digestion.

I see wheat feed and alfalfa are the first ingredients listed here on the Mr Johnson's website Mr Johnson's Advance GUINEA PIG FOOD - Mr Johnson's Small Animal Food

you’d want to avoid something with alfalfa in it anyway, and certainly one where it is one of the main ingredients particularly for a piggy with bladder issues

It’s not a grass based hay. And contains herb blends and something for keeping hutch smell to a minimum. That alone would have me

I also did some research and found that when things like glucosamine are added to food they can loose a lot of their medicinal value as a result of the processing.
I think it would be better to stick with your current food and consider a separate glucosamine supplement if you feel that would help and your vet is ok with it.
