Ive made the decision to move my gang into a shed. Havent bought the shed yet but seen the one I'm ordering on payday! It has a couple of windows. My intention is to move their cages into the shed, leave the door open when I'm busy with non piggy stuff and when theyre not in their run.

I was thinking of making a chicken wire type mesh frame to go over the open doorway to stop any unwanted nosey parkers (cats!) and my dogs. The cages are not open topped so piggies will be secure when I'm not there to watch them.

They have been indoors since Ive had them and I'm worried that come the winter they will suffer in the cold. Is this something that should be of concern? Or do they cope well? Does anyone provide heaters~?

Hiya, just seen your post!

I'm not as clued up as alot of othe rmembers but mine are in their hutch in the shed but until they came to me and had a few months indoors they'd always been outdoor piggles.

I'm sure if you really insulate the hutches and the shed they'll be OK. Maybe wait until the nights warm up a bit more, maybe the end of April, middle of may.

Just realised we're both from Norfolk! I'm near Diss, are you local? Hope you're having lots of Sun like I am! x

Hey there :) thanks for response! YOu may not be as clued up but at least youve answered me! I know alot of people leave them out all year round but mine are spoilt lol. I suppose if I put them out at the end of April hopefully the weather changes will be subtle and they will adjust. Theres also quite a few of them together so I am sure they will huddle.

I made the decision to move them to a shed because now they call out everytime they hear someone walking up the stairs. They live in a room upstairs and used to call out when it was coming up to time to give them their greens, but now they demand greens everytime they hear the slightest rustle of a plastic bag! This is starting to disturb my childrens sleep.

I live in Bradwell which is about 2 miles outside of Great Yarmouth. Had a lovely mini heatwave here! Hopefully the weather will stay gorgeous for the easter hols :)
