At the moment my guinea-pigs are living in hutches in the garden with covers on them, and I hate it, I worry about them so much being out there in the cold, so I spoke to my Mum, expecting her to say no but she said that they could move into the shed for the winter :)) At the moment it's full of old furniture and toys I had when I was younger, but I'm going to pull it all out at the weekend, hoover it, evict any little spiders and move the hutches in.
Here it is (sorry the photo isn't good quality I took it on my phone)

I can't open the windows, but I was going to put a bit of string on the top part of the door (it's a bit like a stable door) and tie it to the side of the shed so I can open it part way so that air gets in but cats etc. can't. They will go in the run everyday, unless its raining or very cold, and if it is really bad weather I've got an indoor run I can set up in the shed with a big pile of grass for them. The shed has 2 floors, I'm going to put the hutches downstairs and the guinea-pig food, hay, bedding etc. upstairs. Is there anything I've forgotten to think about? I can't get heating down there but I thought it would be a good shelter out of the rain and wind for the guinea-pigs. Is it a good idea putting them in the shed? I'd prefer it if they could come in the house but they can't at the moment so this is the best I can do.

i think its fine using the shed, much better than outside, just make sure to give them extra hay to keep them very warm.i think they will be very cosy in there xxxxxx

I'm sure your piggies will be fine in the shed. Extra hay and bedding on cold nights should keep them nice and cosy..
