Hello everyone,

I've search through the threads and although there's a lot of advice to me help with the questions I have, there's a few I'm still confused on.

My two boars have been living with me now for about a weeks. They are currently in a store bought cage that's about 46cm x 117cm In length. Although they seem happy in there, I want to be able to give them a bit more room for comfort and space to get away from each other if needs be. (Plus more space is always better)

I'm thinking of moving them to a substituted c and c cage (panels with the plastic sheeting instead of grid wire, as I've seen many people use) as I can extend it and easily make a little loft area.

Because they've only been with me a short while, I was wondering if I should let them settle in a little longer first before moving them to an alternative caged area? And if so, how long would you all suggest I wait?

Also, what would be the best option for flooring as a base? I know the c and c cages use coroplast, but is there a cheaper/better option available?

And final question (sorry to be a pain) is the cage even a good idea if we have a pet cat? The piggies are in a room in which the cat is kept out of and to be honest it's once in a blue moon he even wants to come in the house! I know accidents can happen and he may find his way into the room without us know which is making me hesitant to the idea of this type of cage.

Sorry for the influx of information/questions and I hope I explained myself properly! And help, advice or someone pointing me in the right direction would be much appreciated!

Thank you!

Hello! My advice would be to get them into what ever cage you intend on having them live in as soon as possible. That way they don't have to readjust twice. I first had a store bout cage with wire top. I thought that this was my only options due to a very curious young indoor cat. I have a c&c cage that I made with a lid and have never had an issue! Coropast and correx is usually used but I have seen some people use lino or even a shower curtain on the bottom. I hope this helps!

Thank you so much for the reply! The cat was one of my main concerns which is why I went for the store cage, as you did. What have you used to make the lid on the cage?

I defiantly think the c and c cages is a much better option, so will have to order it straight away!

Correx board for removals - Teacrate Packaging
This site sells correx for £3 and its 2m x 1m so it's pretty big. It is only 2mm thick therefore I'd buy an extra board and make it the length of the floor if you get me.
The first correx board will include the sides and will be the entire base, the second board will just lay across the bottom to make it 4mm thick.
I think shipping is about £5, if you live near one of their depots you can pick it up for free.
I agree that correx is so so expensive but this is very affordable for the exact same thing!

Hi! You may see a revival of some dominance behaviours at first, but you can mitigate the move by initially using some of their old bedding to give the new place the smell of "home". For once, don't wash everything down. Your boys will be happy to have much more space! ;)
