The setup is done. I ended up going ahead without the correx and just used some lino tiles I had. I might swap for correx later just to make it look neater but the tiles do the job well. I added the hay areas and I think it will work OK but may get very messy! We shall see. I now need to make cage liners to fit it all :)

First some pics of Edna and Eileen with the new hay area and extended cage. Their cage is now 10 grids floor space.

I've spent the last hour watching the babies explore. They have been running around the whole cage. So nice to see them have so much space. They seem very happy. Now they are all sleeping in various tunnels and beds

Thank you :)

Just the Ikea Lack tables. They do a side table for £5 or a coffee table which I think is only £11. I just need 2 of the smaller ones for each end of the cage as it's propped up on some boxes and a bedside table for now!

Love it sooo much. What do you use for the sides? Are they wood? I want to extend mine but have so many hamster set ups that there isnt any room!

My hamster cage is in there now as well and my sewing machine. It's full but with just enough space for the indoor run!

The wooden looking sides is the lino tiles. My daughter said it looks better than the correx :lol!:

I just cut the tiles in half and then stuck them, sticky side together, punched a few holes in and then used cable ties to fix to the grids.

What a brilliant idea.
We can't get correx here (despite many attempts), so any ideas for alternatives are always much appreciated.

wonderful house! theirs and yours, I mean! Have you sewn all the objects, tunnels and hideys? I also would spend my time running from side to side if I were into that wonderful cage!:woot:

Yes, all the soft furnishings are handmade apart from the pink pig which came from eBay :D

24 hours later and I can report that all pigs are in the correct cage still which means the babies are too big to escape... phew! Also, the hay area is working better than expected. Eva and daughters cage was very tidy. No where near as much poop in the main cage. Lots of hay had been eaten and slept in but they are all using the soft beds as well. Perfect!

Edna and Eileen had slept in their usual places, the hammock and cuddle cup. I can tell because of the poop mountains they leave but the hay had also been made into nests and a lot was eaten. I think I will be sticking to the setup this way.

Oh one of yours likes hay tunnels too? That is lovely! Who was hiding in there or is it a mystery?:bal:

It was empty but I'm pretty sure it's Edna. I keep thinking she's escaped as I can't see her anywhere, then I see the hay pile move!

Got the fleece curtains finished today so the tables and junk underneath are hidden from view. Got to keep the lino tiles blocking off the divided section, just until Eden's head gets too big to wedge through. I also used some tiles in Edna and Eileen's hay area just to make the sides higher and keep all the hay and Aubiose tidy just like in Eva's section as it's worked really well.

Then it was a case of spot the piggies.. I think Eva, Ellie and Eden have settled in well to the big C&C cage :D

Eden, like her big sister Eileen, loves the hammock!
