I am a new piggy owner and have got 2 male guinea pigs about 12 weeks old. Fred and Ginger. Fred is pushing ginger around with his head and won't let him near or into the igloo and so Ginger sits alone in the Cosy bag. When I gave them floor space today Ginger was trying to mount Fred but he was not happy. So think this is why they are not bonding. Will this settle. Do boars mount other boars.

Mounting is mild dominance behaviour and very normal, especially in any new territory where the hierarchy needs to be re-established. Your boars ARE bonded; the behaviours you are seeing mean that they are busy working out their relationship! You will see humping on a regular basis, it is very common boar behaviour.

Here is more about boar behaviour; you might find this thread here very helpful as it lists different behaviours, so you know when to go on red alert! http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=28949

Hi, I see this very often, my more dominant boar mounts the other one fairly regularly, he also nips the others ears and tries to steel his food too. Just showing the other that he's the boss.

They do love each other though x)
