Hi,
I posted a while back about one of my pigs was rumbling at the other quite a lot. This has calmed down and generally only happens when they are both in season (or less dominant is in the others space!)
However tonight we have observed the dominant one chasing, nipping and mounting the other. She has never done this before and it took us both by surprise! She's mounted her about 8 times in the past hour and a half.
I've read other's posts on the matter and have been Googling like mad. Basically I just want some reassurance that this is ok behaviour and nothing to worry about unless it involves into full on fighting. I should mention the less dominant pig is making all the right noises in the way of submission so I'm hoping it will just ride itself out.
We're going to leave them with access to their run tonight so they have plenty of space to get out of each other's way if needed.
My husband thinks I'm worrying too much and that it's normal animal behaviour I am being an over anxious Pig Mum that needs more reassurance!
