Two weeks in and Crumble and Wilbur had a fight this morning. 🙁 Teeth chattering escalated and Crumble was making odd squeaking noises and we checked and found blood in his mouth. Both are calm now, in separate carriers waiting for the first available vet appointment at 11am. Making normal noises.

As he's settled in to his new surroundings Wilbur has become more confident and less accepting of Crumble bossing him around. They are similar size at 1.3kg and 2.5 / 3.25 yrs old respectively. Will read up and try to reestablish the bond if we can.

Meanwhile Biscuit and Pikachu were up at the bars begging for nuggets for breakfast and looking super cute as ever.

Never a dull moment with pigs.

I am very sorry!

Usually after a fight with a full-on bite, that is the end of the road between piggies of any gender. :(

Bites to the mouth are often defence bites when a piggy feels cornered or frightened, so the case it is not necessarily as clear cut as with bites to the rump. I have had the odd bite to the mouth between sows on edge over the years and one occasion when one of my neutered boars managed to invade another's cage overnight and obviously challenged/threatened him in his hut because they both ended with bites to the mouth and neck.

You can try once the bite is no longer hurting but better have the oven gloves ready and work on your plan B.

Vet said no serious injuries. Will closely monitor them and hope they can work it out. I'll find out more later when I'm back from work.

Spending some time together during the day when they can be supervised but cage divider at night as there's still some teeth chattering, mounting and stand offs. Neither especially aggressive but neither wants to back down so no clear boss pig. 140x70 cage feels too small now. Will see how we go but whatever happens I can't see Wilbur going back to the rescue except to expand the clan. 😵
