Hi sorry for another post but need advice

My pig developed bloat issues 2 years ago after 2 years of me owning him and eating pretty much anything offered with no issue,

Fast forward to December 23 he had no issues all that year and I thought I had narrowed down what he couldent have

But he has now had bloat twice in the space of a one month period and ive given nothing on "the list" or that might typically be an issue.

I have prescribed meds at home which always solve any issues ( of course if it was super serious I would go to a vet right away).

I'm thinking for the time I will offer pepper only as a fresh option, he gets plenty of hay and also dried forage plus the daily pellets.

I will get him a basic health check at the vet just to be sure there is nothing obvious going on (can't afford further testing right now sadly).

I no some people here feed a veg free diet could this be the way forward? has anyone dealt with this thanks?

I am so sorry to hear this, do you think it may be to do with losing his little friend? Or is this a different piggie

Same pig
I guess... but the first issue i mentioned in December he was not alone then, he has been alone since monday
I managed to get a health check booked for 10.45 today so if that comes up fine I may ask about cutting fresh veg out entirely or for the majority and see if the vet agrees thanks

Is it possible that the first bout of bloat wasn't fully resolved, making this more of a relapse than a separate case? Was he back to eating, pooing, and acting normally in between?

I know when one of my pigs had a case of bloat, after the vet helped to relieve the built up gas, she was on just hay and critical care to recoup, no veggies allowed until she was fully back to normal. This allowed her gut biome to stabilise.

Have you considered probiotics? It might be worth discussing with the vet.

It was about 3 weeks between 2 instances and everything was fine inbteween

I saw the vet few days ago and he was satisifed with his general health, teeth etc and sent home with more meds for now and incase of anything in future
I'm just doing pepper right now and he is doing fine

Ill look into those thankyou for the comment
