So ive had to put of re-bonding my pigs for a few months now as things keep coming up but tonight, I was finally planning to attempt as I have an extra night of so an extra night to make certain things are good

But ive just had the realization that one of the pigs water still needs to be monitored for a while and ive no idea how would I do this when there is two
Has anyone done this before or will I have to put this on hold again?

For many reasons I really could do without putting this off again but I can't think of any way
thanks

Hi

Why do you need to monitor the water intake? Is your piggy ill or suddenly drinking a lot more?
Normal water intake can vary enormously from not drinking at all to over 150ml in a day with out there being anything wrong with the piggies. You can certainly not make a piggy that is not a natural drinker drink more.

The only time you need to worry are sudden changes in their individual habit that are not related to changes in the weather/air con or heating coming on.

He is receiving treatment for potential diabetes insipidus
I saw the vet again today and now he is almost certain that is what he has but he needs to order a more concentrated dose of medication and in the mean time I will keep monitoring his water intake to see if it goes up again without treatment so we can be certain
He was drinking between 400-600ml a day (without medication)

I guess I will just have to put off until I next see the vet

The only way to monitor the water intake of just one piggy is by putting a divider in the cage for 24 hours. Make sure that your other piggy also has access to water in the same time.

In most cases, diabetes settles down again. All the best with his medication. I hope that it does the trick.

I agree, best to check with the vet and get his medication sorted first. Hopefully you will soon be able to try rebonding them.

Thanks everyone I really had high hopes but this brought me down again
I will wait and hope its not to long before I can attempt the re-bond

Please conduct the re-bond on neutral ground, like a formal introduction if it has been more than just a couple of days.

Its been months and I always use a playpen for bonding, gets cleaned after use
Always had success with that thanks
