Hi! :)
I have a quick question regarding piggy sleep hours. While Vani and Stubbins never sleep for more than about 30-45 minutes, Mo sleeps for long periods of time. The other night, I woke up and saw her sleeping on top of a fuzzy blanket. When I woke up four hours later, she was still there! She stretched, yawned a few times, and then got up. Should I be concerned?
Thank you!

Hello!

First of all, how cute 😍

As long as theyre eating, drinking, chewing, chatting and moving around just as they always have done, I wouldn’t be worrying :)

If it puts your mind at rest, do some eliminating of possibilities. Maybe check their weight to make sure they’re not getting overweight (I can’t see in the photos, I promise I’m not saying they’re fat!) by not moving around and exercising. Maybe encourage playtime on the floor, make some toys, hand feed veg (shame on you if they’re just too comfy to move 😂)

If you’re concerned about illness, check for any other symptoms, including changes in personality, eating habits, etc. Other than that, no worries!

Could be genetics, could have a lazy pig, could be an illness if there’s any other symptoms. If it’s only the sleepiness, get some exercise and stimulation in there, and if they still sleep afterwards, take it as a compliment - they trust you! 😄

I agree with @Betsy, I’d take her to the vet if this is a change in her normal behaviour. With the health issues Stubbins has had you must be exhausted and feel like you’re at the vet a lot, but @Betsy is right - a vet would rather see a worried well than miss a sign of something

@Betsy @Piggies&buns Absolutely, but if this is Mo’s usual behaviour and he’s been like this for a good while with no other symptoms, this might just be the way he is. There’s not much you can do for a piggy who sleeps a lot but is otherwise healthy, a checkup can always put your mind at rest but personally if there are no other issues and this is normal behaviour, there’s not a lot to worry about other than watching for any changes...
