Hi all, I have just had Herbie on my lap with Pip and Squeak but I am confused with some of the signs he has been giving out can someone tell me what they mean please.

Most of it is with Pip as Squeak seems to not want to stay still and run but Pip will just sit there.

Herbie seems to be licking Pip by the ears and I am not sure what that means

He also seems to be trying to lift Pip by putting his head underneath him and lifting him up.

He also makes a noise which sounds a little bit like a growl (or am I going insane) or a rumble

I can not think of anything else right now but can anyone help please as I do not want to get rid of any of my boys.

Pip and Squeak live together in their cage and Herbie has his own little pad, but they are quite close together so can see each other and wheek to each other when they want but it is when i get them out for lap time that Herbie seems to go weird.

Thanks all Sarah

Guineas sniff eachother underneath the chin, so that is what he is doing when you say he is lifting Pips head up!
The rumble sound is Herbie telling the others that basically he is the boss!
Are you sure he is licking the ears not biting them?
Continue what you are doing with lap time...it all sounds normal behaviour so far :)

I can;t seem to make up my mind whether Herbie is licking his ears or biting them but Pip just seems to sit there and do nothing at all.

I'd have thought that if Herbie was biting Pip then Pip would have conplained in someway but he doesn't.

If he was biting, Pip would squeal or something, so maybe he is licking or sniffing. Keep up with the lap time and when you feel the time is right, put them together for supervised floor time with neutral smelling towel/toys etc and go from there! Herbie will probably sniff, rumble and rumble strut (walk low to the ground swaying his bum..its funny to watch!) and may even do a bit of humping. Try to stay calm and let them get on with it, they need to sort out the heirarchy. Only seperate if Herbie goes to bite, but it probably wont come to that as the other two are only bubs :)
