My Guinea pigs have really flaky skin and has little grey/black specks around their bums but isn’t scratching more than usual and hasn’t lost any fur. Does anyone know what it is? They also have bumble foot from their past home as they are rescues 😔🤦🏼‍♀️

Black specks in the hair does indicate that they likely have mites.

Please see a vet for diagnosis and treatment.
Please do not be tempted to use low dosed pet shop products or treat on spec as it can make it harder to deal with.

You will also need to throw their hay away, disinfect the cage and ideally cut their hair to remove as many as the eggs from the hair as you can

Please also see the guide below

I have just read it and it says that they look like pepper. The ones in my pigs are just flakes and their is no bead like things in their fur.

It is still best to see a vet - the skin flaking isn’t necessarily normal so it is best that the vet determines whether there are mites present
