Disclaimer: I am not familiar with guinea pigs as much but I really do enjoy them and have done as much research as I can online. I have decided to reach out further on this forum for more advice.
Hi, I have two guinea pigs and one of them has mites really bad (specifically sarcoptic mange mites). They are both in separate cages and I know that the other guinea pig does not have mites. I've been to the vet twice now and during the last visit... my guinea pig that has the mites (Fifi) was given ivermectin and he gave us sulfamethoxazole and trimetholprim oral, and revolution cat to take home to treat her with. We give her the sulfamethoxazole and trimetholprim oral twice a day (8:00am and 8:00pm) and the revolution cat is instructed to use once a month over the top of her ears. Fifi is struggling with the itchiness and fur loss and she is getting seizures. Today I found her with a bloody patch on her bottom and I was really concerned. Does anyone have any advice on what else I could do to help her?
