I took my guineas to the vets over a year ago with mites, and she gave us some Sporal D Disinfectant shampoo (they were only babies, so no injections), which worked brilliantly. I've been using it on all four every month or so, but every so often they'll have little flare ups and get really itchy. I would only use injections as a last resort, and their mites aren't bad at all -they're just a bit scurfy and itchy. I was just wondering if Ivomec would cure, not just prevent, and if so, what type of Ivomec would be best, and where i can get it from.

Thanks!

Hi,

If your piggies have mites the main treatment is Ivomec. If you PM me I will let you kow where you can get some.

I would use Gorgeous Guineas on them - the 'lice and easy' one is good for parasites.

Much kinder on the skin for them!

I just got the posh n' go for my Goldie. Yay! Cant wait to see how it works. :D

Thanks for all your advice ^_^ Their skin is looking better - we're gonna wash them again this weekend which will mean they've been bathed every saturday for three weeks (that's what the vet said). Hopefully this time they won't have any more flare ups.

Good luck, Lucy. I know the Gorgeous Guinea preparations are lovely and really improve fur and skin. If the problem ever does come back, (and I think the mites/lice live in the hay until they can find a nice furry home), you know to act swiftly with the shampoos, or ivomec if you prefer.
