Mini Fight With Two Boars

Think there was a bit of a piggy atmosphere last night in my pig room. matthew (my baby boy) joining his new boyfriend seems to have created an atmosphere. Either that or one of my girls is having a strong heat (not sure if pigs in other cages can smell or sense this?)

Well my boy pair decided to fall out. They were teeth chattering viciously at each other so I fished my skinny little man out and noticed he had a nip on his back. It was enough to break skin but not bleed. I dunno if this counts as drawing blood as I figure if he had hair it wouldnt even be visable amd prob wouldnt have broken skin.

I separated for the night as he was seriously irate he even nipped me whilst i was trying to calm him down (right on my stomach it was enough to break the skin but nothing serious) and this afternoon I have cleaned the cage out changed over to substrate (only for a few days they are normally on fleece but wanted them to have something new to distract them. I also replaced their fleecey tunnels with a cardboard box with two exits and a cardboard tube. They seem back to their normal selves. Just wondering whether I should have done this or kept them separated, I dont want to have to deal with one killing or seriously harming the other as I'd never forgive myself!

let your two boys cool down for a day or two and then re-introduce on neutral ground them after a bath to remove any excess testosterone (the same also goes for the cage). The damage is not enough for a full fall-out. Skinnies get scratches very easily; he was likely just at the receiving end of a dominance nip (letting the underpig feel one's teeth) without the protection of fur.

Its official the bond is broken camr home after a afternoon out to hear an almighty scuffle upstairs. I reintroduced them wednesday afternoon and they seemed happy again.

I got upstairs to see littleman very irate running about with both boys chattering. I fished little man out and he was covered in bites and scratches ive never seen so many poor mite. There are no words to describe how terrible I feel. Almost as if I did it to him

I feel like ive let him down its so cruel. Luckily they dont seem deep so I have put antiseptic cream on and will monitor him closely for next 24 hours. Does he need antibiotics to prevent infection? No wounds are bleeding or anything?

I checked his nails to see if he could have done the stratches himself but his nails feel smooth. also some bites are under his chin so he hasnt bitten himself!

Freddie looks like butter wouldnt melt he doesnt seem bothered or guilty at all. He is currently in my quarentine / hospital cage in disgrace. I wish I could tell him off but I couldn't at the end of the day it is my fault putting them together not his. I ended up calling him a very naughty boy in my baby voice lol.
