Mildred and Peggy have been causing me a bit of worry over christmas. Just before christmas little Peggy (bossy boots) has been on heat - I presume, rumbling and wiggling and mounting all the girls but particularly Mildred who was not impressed as she is top girlie and all the other girls know this - but not little Peggy rolleyes Last night Mildred and Peggy were teeth chattering and Mildred was rocking backwards and forwards and flew at Peggy but missed rolleyes They were chuntering in the night and now this morning Mildred is obviously on heat and has been quite happily letting Peggy climb all over her until this evening and she dosen't want to know and they have been rumbling and teeth chattering. Fortunately there have been no injuries, just falling out really.
Is this Mildred and Peggy both wanting to be top girlie?
As they haven't hurt each other I have left them together with the others who don't seem to bat an eyelid at their silly behaviour.
I just don't want either of them hurt or unessecarily stressed.
Hopefully they will calm down.
Any suggestions?

Things haven't calmed down with Mildred and Peggy, infact it got worse :( Peggy just dosen't seem to like Mildred and is snapping and chasing everybody and genrally upsetting the group. I got up this morning and found Peggy with a swollen cut bottom lip :( So I have seperated Peggy from the other girls and put her next door. At present things are much more relaxed for the others and Peggy seems to be so much calmer. I don't think Peggy means to be aggressive, I just wonder if she felt threatened by the others thinking she had to be bossy to get food, hay, space etc as she is the tiniest of the piggies :( I feel sad but I feel less worried now it is all peacefull.

The run is divided in half at the moment. If this is to be a permanent arrangement my husband is going to alter the divider so that it is L shaped so that the four have more space.

sorry,i've only just read this. keep towels close by as when they start arguing you can chuck the towel over them and they settle down due to confusion. but you've done the right thing i think as blood's been shed. x:(

I don't think there will be any more fuss now as the four are so layed back and little softies. Peggy is a bit wild? for them. Don't know if thats the right word to use. She seems so much calmer though thank god. Although it was Mildred Peggy was targetting the others were suffering as they were squealing and trying to get out the way and you could see they were scared and it was just not fair for any of them or fair on Peggy as she obviously felt unsettled. It's nice for her to see the others still so she is not lonely.

Awww it is a shame but you have done the right thing. Maybe in a while, you could try reintroducing them on neutral territory?

I love your piggy houses!

Have been keeping an eye on the girls and was worried that Peggy was lonely. I have put Poppy in with her who she has accepted - thank god :... So for now this is how it will stay. I just hope there are no more fall outs. Peggy and Mildred still teeth chatter to each other if they get the chance but they obviously can't get to each other being next door.
I hope one day they can live together again :)

I think you've done the right thing separating, sows can be funny at times. At least Peggy has a friend and Mildred has a friend, even if the group is separated they can still see each other
