Hi everyone! I took Eddie to the vet today because he had some sniffles. (turned out to be the hay) but while we were there the vet mentioned he had slightly sore hocks. I sweep the cage daily and change all of it weekly, as well as change any damp fleece daily. Is there anything I can do to prevent it from getting worse? I was also given Vit C tabs in case he isn’t getting enough.
Thanks! 😊

If he’s eating (plenty of) hay then he should be getting enough vitamin c. I wouldn't supplement him for now. By hocks do you mean his paws? Did the vet recommend anything or say what the next step would be if there Is No improvement? I’m not sure what else you can can do. Wait for others to reply and see what they say.

If the vet says it's urine scold you could try putting vetbed in the places he lies the most. I have a boar who gets this problem and I have vetbed pieces in his hides and the corners he lies in the most. I put a folded newspaper underneath it. Vetbed locks urine underneath into the absorbent layer, unlike fleece which if it gets wet enough will stay damp on top. I change the vetbed daily. I got vetbed off cuts on ebay and then cut it into small squares.
